10 Photos that will make you want to instantly move to the Caribbean

The Caribbean, a place that has long been called paradise by many and that is on the bucket list of countless. It’s a place that still knows the meaning of tranquility, simplicity and hospitality. It is where the term “easy living” is still a fact of life. I am just lucky to be able to call it home.  The next 10 pictures will make you too want to buy a one way ticket to white sand beaches, gorgeous sunsets, inspiring sunrises and crystal turquoise waters.

Bastille Day: Celebrating it the Creole way

Happy Bastille Day! The 14th of July or Le Quatorze Juillet is a pivotal part of the French Revolution and thus French history that has developed into the Fête Nationale Francaise or the French National Day. It is celebrated with military parades, various activities, lots of food and gorgeous fireworks displays in Paris and all over France, and the French territories in the Caribbean are no exception.

This was my first Bastille Day celebration on French St. Martin. I am usually away around this time of year but was quite excited to finally be home to witness the activities and document how this day is celebrated the creole way.

SEX and the Single Island Girl over 40

They are single, they are fabulous, they are island girls and they are over 40.

The Caribbean is a fantastic place to live. It is something I have said again and again but what is it like to be single and over 40 in paradise? I gathered some of my single friends and asked them this question over a bottle or two of wine.

Sunday Reflections: Positive Island Life

Feet up on the balcony railing. Laptop in my lap. A glass of water on the table next to me. I watch mesmerized as the drops slide down gently to the bottom of the glass, leaving a small pool of water at the base. In the near distance is the ocean. It’s a hot day but fortunately there is a breeze, however gentle. It keeps me from sweating too much this early in the day.

The Island Girl’s Guide to Affordable St. Barth

It is known as the winter playground of the rich and famous. Words like chic, luxury, celebrities, expensive are all associated with it. Of course I’m talking about the ever elegant St. Barth, an 8.1 square mile island in the French Caribbean.

I visited St. Barth recently for a weekend and was curious to see what it would be like in the summer months, also known as the dreaded low season. If you’re planning to do some celebrity gawking and taking selfies with luxury yachts in the background, then this is not the right time for you to go. The rich and famous all flock to places like Monaco and Cannes in the summer, leaving this little French paradise almost deserted and mostly tranquil. But this is when you see the real St Barth.

Hotel Review: The Fountain Resort Residences in Anguilla

Perfect despite a few imperfections is how I would describe the Fountain Resort Residences at first sight.  Located in Shoal Bay East, it’s a quaint place that doesn’t have all the usual resort amenities but doesn’t really need them either. Offering one bedroom, two bedrooms or studio accommodations the Fountain is the ideal place to stay for couples, groups and families.
