When it comes to female solo travel, one thing and one thing only remains the number one concern of all, and that is safety. Although I have only visited a small percentage of the entire Caribbean to date and still have lots to explore and discover, 3 small islands stand out the most when it comes to exploring and experiencing an island destination in a safe environment.
The Caribbean is a popular destination in the winter months, when snow birds flock by the thousands to the warmer shores of the different Caribbean islands. Nevis is no different. But what about traveling to Nevis in the summer?
A bed that is begging to be slept in, furniture in bright and vibrant Caribbean colors, a view to live by, free WiFi and ample closet space with plenty of hangers, this is what I remember most about my stay at the Mount Nevis Hotel. But wait, I am getting way ahead of myself here. Let us start from the beginning, shall we?!

This seems to be a rather controversial saying that has sparked many debates. Some say exposing visitors to the current status of the damaged islands will only hurt tourism, while others, like myself can only see the benefits of opening the islands up to visitors as soon as possible. My personal opinion is that we cannot afford not to. Tourism is what we are and what we do here in the Caribbean and further delaying our tourist season is only going to hurt our already fragile economies.
I say Nevis and chances are you automatically think of the Four Seasons, but did you know that this little island gem has a lot more to offer when it comes to accommodation choices? What about sleeping in historic, well preserved and beautifully restored Sugar Mill Estates or Plantations?
